Kids Yoga

Ages 7 – 9

Growing up is hard and we hope to teach our kids skills that will enable them to walk in the world with ease. The regular practice of yoga increases strength and flexibility while sharpening ones mental focus. It equips us with both the ability and the opportunity to relax and learn to breathe, while also becoming immersed in a physical challenge. The practice of yoga helps kids begin to develop a healthy image of their bodies and minds while they learn to skillfully channel their energy in useful ways.

In this yoga program teachers will cover traditional yoga postures, breathing exercises and yoga philosophies, turning the serious practice of yoga into fun challenges, obstacles courses, stories, as well as creative time. Kids will warm up with flowing sequences, including Sun Salutations, and will experience many postures.

Pre & Teen Yoga

Ages 10 – 16

Pre & Teen Yoga helps kids make sense of our chaotic world. So much is demanded of this age group, both academically and socially, that there is rarely time for them to focus inward. When the mind is focused one finds that so many things are possible. Yoga offers this age group tools to gain strength and manage stress.

Yoga postures are challenging but accessible. Most teens will be able to do these poses from the first try. Yoga helps them improve their posture, become more agile and responsive. Classes begin with breathing, warm up sequences, sun salutes, and move onto many other postures, ending with deep relaxation.

Practicing yoga is rejuvenating and the benefits are immediate. Over time, kids will develop a healthy body image and lifestyle habits to maintain fitness on all levels.
